I arrived at the Okie-Tex about 4:30- 5:00 pm and set up near the northeast corner. At first it seemed crowded but I am actually in a place with a fair bit of room around me. People with biggger rigs are around the outside edge and corner. I am in just a ways from them.
Tons of fun! A lot of great scopes and all sorts of great people and views on the first night. It is very dark here and things looked great even before it was totally dark. Very nice views of favorites. The Sculptor Galaxy, NGC 253, was awesome through a 30" Starmaster. Also we took look at galaxy NGC 55 near there and it was impressive as well. I had a great time with a friend with an 18" dob on the 'blinking planetary' in Cygnus. We got the mag just right so it would shut off and on with every quick glance away and back. It was great training for averted vision. Seeing got bad about 12:30 to 1 A.M.
OKie-Tex is a blast! Burgers served until 3:00 a. m.
More later, I need to go charge the laptop battery.
