Last spring, I extended an offer to the Okie-Tex speaker committee to present a talk about the Astronomical League Observing clubs. Since I have received 25 certificates from 22 observing clubs, I thought I would share my thoughts on these programs and how each one is unique. They accepted my offer and gave me the Friday evening speaking slot.
If you ever have a story to tell, a star party like this one is the place to do it. I had a blast and hopefully those 30 or so individuals who attended my talk will have more inspiration to do some of the AL programs they might not have selected before listening to me.
I did get 5 hours of great observing in on Friday night. I found 3 faint comets and looked at lots of old favorites. Chatted with old friends and made some new ones. The food was fantastic like always and the facilities were there to service the many people who attended. It was a great event and is worth attending
