Mars at closest approach in 2007

Tonight around 4:45 pm MST (23:45 UT)  Mars will be as close as it gets to Earth this year.  The Hubble's Wide Field and Planetary Camera2 were used to create this color image from a series of exposures.  The image below was taken when the central meridian longitude was about 320 degrees.  It will be at the same longitude tonight around  8:15 pm MST (03:15 UT).
