Astronomy Day Reports - 2007

Astronomy Day by Texas Astronomical Society

We held this year's Astronomy Day on September 15th at the University of Texas- Dallas Campus in Richardson, Texas. The event lasted from 1:00pm- 11:00pm and included inside meteorite display, Astronomy raffle, and speakers during the afternoon.

Solar viewing and evening public observing was also held with a nice turnout of Solar and visual scopes by the membership. The Physics Department at trhe University sponsored the event along with the Texas Astronomical Society. The University also provided a nice lecture hall for the speakers with an observing field just outside the lecture hall for the telescopes.

During the afternoon we held Astronomy lectures covering both beginner and advanced subjects, with an evening lecture on Astrophotography with outside actual hands-on demonstration by several TAS members. This was highly enjoyed by the attending students and public. The meteorite display supplied by TAS member Jeff Barton was also highly enjoyed by the attendees
