Comet 168P Hergenrother

Image of comet 168P Hergenrother taken on Oct 14, 2012 11:45 pm mdt through Oct 15 00:15 pm  from Louisville, CO .Images taken with Celestron Nexstar11, 0.62 focal reducer, and Canon T3i. Unguided, 20 second exposure at ISO 3200. Used 45 of 60 frames taken from 11:45 to 12:15. Aligned and stacked with DeepSkyStacker using star and comet stacking option. Cropped, noise reduced, and levels adjusted with Photoshop. Sky clear, transparency very good, no wind, turbulence 5/10, and temperature around 50°F.

Comet Hergenrother is estimated to be about magnitude 9.4 and its nucleus is 3 arc min across. It is currently moving northward through constellation Pegasus.
