Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh - Mingo Creek Park Public Star Party Mingo Creek Park Observatory: The Observatory is located 10 miles east of Washington PA in Nottingham Township in Mingo Creek County Park. The park is in the northeast section of Washington County. The observing location is on the top of the hill past Shelter 10. The park is located off Route 88 or Route 136 in Washington County. See the back of this flyer for the map to the observatory site. The Mingo Creek Park Observatory has two permanently mounted telescopes in separate rooms, a refractor and a reflector telescope. The building also houses a small planetarium where the night sky can be displayed indoors when there’s bad weather, or for special educational events. Peach State Star Gaze 2010, Sharon GA, Oct. 3 - 10
The Atlanta Astronomy Club’s 17th Annual Peach State Star Gaze (PSSG) will be held at Deerlick Astronomy Village in Sharon Georgia, located east of Atlanta and 50+ miles west of Augusta, GA. It has some of the darkest skies in Georgia and away from city lights. DAV has an 11-acre field that has room for RVs, campers and tents. Limited power available. Restrooms and showers available along a 40’ x 40’ pavilion and gas BBQ. Visit the Atlanta Astronomy Club’s 24” telescope and clubhouse. We will have speakers, workshops, vendors, and if anyone has anything they want to sell, you can set up your swap table. Keep checking our website as information is always being updated. 19th Annual Camp Delany Star Party, Ephrata WA, Oct. 8
The Olympic Astronomical Society will host it's annual Fall Camp Delany Star Party at Sunlakes State Park near Ephrata, WA. There are cabins, a meeting area and dining area as well as hot showers. StarFest 2010, Knoxville TN, Oct. 8
StarFest is a collection of short talks, sun and star watches, planetarium shows, and a keynote speaker. This year's keynote speaker is Michael Smith, ORNL. Meals are included in the cost of the event. Each registered guest will receive a designer (Bays Mountain Park artist) shirt. The event ends with a talk from Paul Lewis, UT-Knoxville. Mason Dixon Star Parties, Dillsburg PA, Oct. 8 - 10
Hi all you crazy star gazers, I'm writing to let you know the dates for the Mason Dixon Star Parties for 2010. The Summer star party will be July 9 -11, 2010. This will be the star party with vendors, speakers,swimming pool, etc. The fall star party will be October 8 -10, 2010 and will have a food vendor. I'll send more details as I have them and of course, info will go on the websites, so you can check there too!
