2005 Southern California Astronomy Exposition (SCAE)
Saturday, August 13 & 20, 2005
Oceanside Photo & Telescope is excited to sponsor
the 2005 Southern California Astronomy Exposition (SCAE)
for two Saturdays this August. The first half of the
event, to be held on Saturday, August 13th, will highlight
a Seminar Symposium, featuring some very exciting seminars
on various astronomy topics. The list of speakers will
include Steve Edberg, Gary Palmer, Tim Cann, Dan Phillips
and many more. Our keynote speaker will be none other
than comet-hunter, author, and lecturer David Levy!
The seminars will begin at approximately 10 AM and will
run through 8 PM that evening, and everything is FREE!
The Southern California Astronomy Exposition will feature
a Telescope Demonstration Convention on August 20th.
This event will feature about 20 of the biggest and
best manufacturers in the industry. The list so far
includes ATS Piers, Astrodon, Borg, Celestron, Coronado,
Discovery, Denkmeier, JMI, Meade, Mitty, SBIG, Stellarvue,
Takahashi, Tele Vue, Vixen, Mike Weasner, and Yankee
Robotics, and we expect more to sign up as the date
gets closer. In addition, there will be some exciting
presentations by Meade and by Stellarvue. It is rumored
that the ghost of Galileo will be attending the event
as well
The August 20th event will also feature a giveaway raffle
with some really great prizes. The grand prizes, worth
at least $1000, will include products from Meade, Celestron,
FLI and Stellarvue, and there will be many other prizes
from a wide range of manufacturers given away during
the raffle as well. You must be present to win.
The Telescope Demonstration Convention will begin at
10 AM and will run until 10 PM that evening. There should
be time for a few hours of observing through lots of
demo telescopes, and plenty of time to talk with a host
of manufacturer reps. To read more about SCAE, and to
