The Popular Astronomy Club and the Putnam Museum & Science Center, Davenport, Iowa have partnered for Astronomy Day on Friday April 21, 2017 from 1:00 pm – 8:30 pm. See meteorites and an actual Moon Rock on loan from NASA. We’ll have displays including information on the total solar eclipse. Our “chefs” will be on hand to “cook up” some comets and don’t miss a stop at the Weight Station to see what you weigh on different planets! There will be indoor planetarium shows and solar observing in the afternoon and night sky observing that evening (weather permitting). There will also be childrens’ crafts and free literature.

7:00 pm – Special Program – Dr. Paul Sipiera, President & CEO of The Planetary Studies Foundation, Galena, Illinois “How And Where To View The Great American Total Solar Eclipse”. Dr. Sipiera is a Professor Emeritus of Geology and Astronomy at William Rainey Harper College in Palatine, Il. At the present time he also serves as Director of the PSF Earth & Space Science Museum in Elizabeth, Illinois.
