Explore the cosmos on Saturday, May 11, and celebrate National Astronomy Day with the North Museum of Nature and Science. From 11 am to 4 pm, participate in family-friendly space-themed activities and daytime observing of the sun and the moon. Discover the wonders of the universe with our numerous presentations by members of local astronomy clubs and/or with a planetarium show in South Central Pennsylvania’s largest planetarium, the SciDome Theater. Take advantage of the opportunity to interact with Lancaster’s own NASA Solar System Ambassador Axel Diaz, and amateur astronomers from local astronomy clubs; the Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County and the York County Astronomical Society. In the evening, three nearby parks will be offering the opportunity to observe the sky through telescopes. Specifically, stargazing (weather permitting) will take place at the Joseph R. Grundy Observatory at Franklin & Marshall College campus, Clayton Road from 8:30-10:30pm; John Rudy County Park Observatory, 400 Mundis Race Road, York, PA with the York County Astronomical Society from 8:00-10:00pm; and at Muddy Run Observatory, 172 Bethesda Church Rd. West, Holtwood, PA , with the Rittenhouse Astronomical Society from 7:00-10:30pm.
