Lima Astronomical Society

The Lima Astronomical Society exists to operate Schoonover Observatory, located at 670 N. Jefferson St. in Lima, and to promote and stimulate interest in; provide education in; and conduct research in; astronomy and related sciences to the residents of Lima and the surrounding area. The society meets on the first Friday of each month at 8:00 pm at Schoonover Observatory. The observatory is open to the public during the summer months every Friday evening at 9:00 pm. The society members also open the observatory by appointment at any time. They also do outreach programs for the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District, The Neil Armstrong Museum, and local schools.
