I own Rick’s Astronomy Jewelry. I’m looking forward to vending at ALCON 2012. I haven’t vended at an ALCON convention since 2007 in Portland Oregon.

    Hi Rick,
I look forward to meeting you and the Astronomy Jewelry. Do you do customized work? Please describe your specialty. What area are you homebased from?

Hi Audrey, I will make any constellation you want but some constellations are large and to make it practical, sometimes I have to be creative and reduce the design. I like them to match what you see in the sky if possible. I am not a professional jeweler and I only do the work like you see on my website Rick’s Astronomy Jewelry. I live 5 miles south of the town of Warrensburg Mo. that is about 60 miles east of Kansas City.

Rick… Your creations are awesome! Would you mind of I posted some of your creations on Iskywatch.com?

Nice work Rick! I just stopped by your website.
I’ll definitely buy a necklace… not sure if I’ll get Scorpio (because i am a scorpio) or the Big Dipper or Orion cause it will come in handy when i work with little kids to teach them their first constellations– not to mention Globe at Night for Orion. hmmm … fun decisions ahead! (gold-filled i think)

I’m curious about the 2 domes in the photo on your website. Are those club-owned or privately-owned domes? On public parkland or privately-owned land?

Hi Rich, You may post some of my pendant photos on Iskywatch.com. I will also check out your website.

The Domes and the land are mine. I do public events at my site named Rolling Hills Observatory on occasion during the warmer months of the year. I use the profits from the jewelry business to maintain/upgrade equipment, print handout and materials for when I do Night Sky Network events. ( I am registered as Rolling Hills Observatory) and as you can see on my jewelry site, I do like to take astrophotos.

Congratulations! You are living the dream of many astronomers. It is wonderful that you do public outreach. That is what i like best about amateur astronomers… their willingness for volunteer outreach to help others connect to the starry night.

You are certainly welcomed to register Rolling Hills Observatory as a StarPark in the Global StarPark Network. This is a OneStar at a Time project supported by the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Programme. Our website is temporarily down while it is in transition to being moved to another server for more capacity. However, you can see the StarPark brochure and more info on my co-chair’s website The Starlight Initiative . http://www.starlight2007.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=173&Itemid=161&lang=en

Let me know when your site is up and I’ll check it out and let you know.
