Astronomy Day 2016 at the BMoS

Astronomy Day at the BMoS
2016-04-30
11:00 to 16:00

The Buffalo Museum of Science (BMS) and Buffalo Astronomical Association
(BAA) invite the families and science enthusiasts to celebrate International
Astronomy Day on Saturday, April 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the
museum (1020 Humboldt Parkway, Buffalo). The museum opens at 10:00 a.m.
The BAA will give visitors of all ages a chance to connect with the universe
around them through talks, demonstrations and activities hosted by the
BAA’s experienced observers. Learn how a telescope works and how to use it
to explore the night sky. For those considering the purchase of a telescope,
BAA members will also provide pointers to pick the perfect telescope for your
needs – or even teach you how to make one yourself!
Participants may also observe the wonders of distant planets and galaxies
through astro photographs taken by BAA members from their own backyards.
The BMS will open its rooftop (weather permitting) for the BAA to provide
solar telescope demonstrations so that guests may get a first-hand look at
the amazing dynamics of our neighborhood star – the sun!
Astronomy activities are included with general museum admission years of age.
