Dinosaur Discovery Day – Earth & Sky

Join the Friends of Dinosaur Ridge on October 12th, 2013 from 10am to 2pm for International Astronomy Day as part of Earth Science Week along with National Fossil Day and International Archaeology Day. Girl Scouts of all levels will have many opportunities to fulfill badge requirements on this day.

Astronomy booths will include solar viewing, reading a sundial, searching for iron meteorites with a piece to take home, and tentatively an interactive sundial.

Guides will be stationed at the world-famous track site and other fossil sites along the Dinosaur Ridge Trail. Fossil activities at the Visitor Center include sifting for microfossils, dinosaur track painting,  and a dinosaur dig for kids,    PLUS check out the new Triceratops Skull and Allosaurus model in Trek Through Time.

Organizations attending this day include: National Park Service, Mr. Bones, Legendary Ladies, Butterfly Pavilion, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory, Western Interior Paleontological Society (WIPS), Majestic View Nature Center, Roxborough Park, Molly Brown House Museum, Audubon Center, and Wildlife Experience.  Girl Scouts must register at https://www.girlscoutsofcolorado.org/events/1319.
