International Astronomy Day
Our twelfth consecutive year! Exhibits and demonstrations from the Baton Rouge Amateur Radio Club, Baton Rouge Gem and Mineral Society, Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, EBR Metropolitan Airport, the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, LIGO, the St. George Fire Protection District and many more! Homemade comet exercise and face painting. Over $700 in astronomical equipment and materials will be raffled. Flying demo from the Red Stick R/C Club. A dry slide, spacewalk and hamster balls for the kids! Author Lisa Calhoun will promote her book “Superflare”. Weather permitting a Renaissance Sundial will be displayed; also viewing of the Sun, the Moon, Venus, Jupiter, the Beehive Cluster and (possibly) Omega Centauri. A live remote from 100.7 FM “The Tiger” and live music from Celtic band Kitchen Session. The Adventure Quest game will allow kids to earn neat prizes. Join us from 3pm to 11pm Central Daylight Time.
