Prairie Skies Star Party 2013 will be held at beautiful Camp Shaw-Waw-Nas-See 4-H camp, adjacent to Kankakee River State Park, near Bourbonnais Illinois. Attention ATMers! We place a special emphasis on amateur telescope making, by recognizing outstanding achievement through our ATM Telescope and Accessory Awrds. In addition to the usual all night observing; Prairie Skies features an imaging contest, door prizes, catered meals, a swap market, vendors, and a guest speaker or two. Children can participate in their very own age appropriate door prize drawings. Gather with your friends at one or more of our traditional Prairie Dog Community Picnics; and don’t miss out on the famous Midnight Chili! As always; complimentary coffee, tea, and hot chocolate will be available in the Dining Hall all day and night throughout the event. Our popular Almost All Night Film Festival will feature a varietyof films in the Dining Hall. Join us for a great time as Prairie Skies Star Party "continues the tradition" at Camp Shaw.

Bays Mountain StarFest, 853 Bays Mountain Park Road, Kingsport TN, Oct. 17
StarFest is the Bays Mountain Astronomy Club’s annual astronomical convention held each October. Situated in the heart of the Appalachians, it is three days and two nights of astronomical heaven. During the day, our delegates enjoy many keynote speakers, planetarium programs, activities, solar viewing, and the splendor of autumnal colors. The night brings more speakers, activities, the use of a fleet of large telescopes, and crisp, cool air. Attendance can only be attained by pre-registration and includes all activities, five scrumptious meals, free access to the Park’s public programming, the opportunity to sleep on Park grounds at no additional cost, and a unique, commemorative T-shirt. All of this for one, low cost. Registration forms are usually released in August and space is limited.
