The NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center and its partner the Delmarva Space Sciences Foundation will host an Astronomy night from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, March 15, featuring Earth’s Moon and Apollo’s 50th Anniversary.

The Apollo lunar flights may have ended in 1972, but the moon has remained of great interest to NASA, the public, and scientists around the world. Robotic missions, such as LADEE launched from Wallops Flight Facility, continue to add to our scientific knowledge of the moon.

This lunar-themed event begins with an astronomy presentation in the Visitor Center’s auditorium at 7 p.m. followed by night sky observations through high-powered telescopes operated by the Delmarva Space Sciences Foundation on the grounds of the Visitor Center from 7:30 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public. The astronomy presentation will take place regardless of the weather conditions. However, the telescope viewing is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.
