Introduction

Welcome to the Master Observer - Silver Award step in the Master Observer Progression.  You have seen many astronomical wonders and you are hungry for more.  Many Astronomical League Observing Programs await you.

The goal of the Master Observer - Silver Award is to is to encourage observers to try new things, to boldly go where they have never gone before.  With this goal in mind, the observer needs to add 10 more certifications.

Rules and Regulations

The Master Observer - Silver Award will be given to an AL member who has completed the Observer Award, the Master Observer Award, the Advanced Observer Award, and the five additional required observing programs.

The Observer:

  • Must be a member of the Astronomical League.
  • Must have earned the Observer Award
  • Must have earned the Master Observer Award
  • Must have earned the Advanced Observer Award
  • Must be part of the Master Observers Network (MO-Net)

The observer must complete these four additional observing programs:

  • The Lunar II Observing Program.
  • The Outreach Observing Award - Any level.
  • The Sketching Observing Award.
  • The Sunspotters Observing Program.

The observer must also complete other observing programs to reach a total of 20.

Please note that an observing program previously completed as part of the Observer Award, the Master Observer Award, or the Advanced Observer Award can not be counted again for the Master Observer - Silver Award.  When you have completed the requirements for the Master Observer  - Silver Award, you will have completed at least 20 separate Observing Programs.

Once a member has completed the observing programs, she or he will be given a certificate and pin.
