Exoplanet Process – Practice

    • Enter your email.
    • Uncheck the checkbox if you do NOT want to receive updates from them.
    • Check the Captcha checkbox.
    • Click the Submit button.
    • You will receive an email with instructions.
      • You will need to create a Google Drive account if you do not already have one.
      • While you are there, you should create a folder to receive your packets.
        • On the left, near the top, you should see a “My Drive” (just under the Home icon).
        • If you click on the tiny arrow to the left of My Drive it will open the list of subfolders.
        • If there is not one called EXOTIC, then you need to create it.
        • Right click on My Drive and selected New Folder to create a folder called EXOTIC.
      • Click Download Zip.  This will drop the Zip file in your PCs Downloads folder.  It will have a long (and cryptic) alphanumeric name.
      • I then copied or moved it to an EXOTIC folder on my PC.
      • If you right-click on the file, you can then select Extract All.
        • It asks you to select where to extract the files to.  It probably has an appropriate place.
        • I leave the checkbox checked to show me the files.
        • Click the Extract button.
      • The Read Me file has useful information in it.
      • There is more useful information in the email and its links.
    • You now have your data packet and are ready to use EXOTIC to process the data.
    • Click on EXOTIC in the email or go to this web page:  https://exoplanets.nasa.gov/exoplanet-watch/exotic/welcome/
