Welcome to the Universe!

“The Universe awaits all who enter here!”

But, where to begin.  So much to see, so many objects, and so many options.  This part of the AL website is designed to help those who are new to the hobby get their feet wet.  All of the pages are self contained, but they provide entry points for any observer, no matter where they are in the progression.

• There is a short PowerPoint presentation that can give you an overview of the process.  Click here for the PDF.
• All I know about astronomy is that it is about stars.  I want to learn more.  We have a free electronic textbook available for download.  It is written at high school level, and covers everything in the universe at an introductory level.  Get it here.
• No Equipment?  No problem!  Start here.
• Before you buy any equipment, check this out.
• Well, I do own a pair of binoculars…  Continue here.
• I have a telescope, now what?  This is for you.
• But, what if I am visually challenged?  This might be for you.
• I just want to explore my options.  We have over 85 Observing Programs available to members.  Here is an alphabetical listing.

Clear Skies and may you have many hours of rewarding observing.
